I have been on the yoga path since 1984 and teaching and leading retreats since 1991. I have been blessed with many wonderful teachers who have imparted both the spirit and practice of yoga to me.  Early influences include Bob Smith, with whom I apprenticed for many years and Marie Svoboda; I did teacher training with Ana Forest, and have been exploring the principles of Anusara Yoga  since 2001 with leading teachers and John Friend, and with a particularly strong influence by Doug Keller, even as he has shifted from Anusara into more yoga therapy.  My over-arching influence is the work of Angela Farmer and Victor van Kooten, who stand as a big umbrella over all these other teachings, always leading me back to myself as the source of my yoga and what I have to share.

In addition to yoga I  trained in authentic movement, where I worked for five years at the Authentic Movement institute in Berkeley under the guidance of Janet Adler, and her senior students, and another five years in private sessions with a therapist and teacher. This work taught me much about the integration of psyche and spirit within my very body. I have a background in depth psychology, both academically and through my own inner work, and am currently in the Ridhwan school (a student of the  Diamond Approach) and doing formal study in Ayurveda through the Vedic Institute.  It is all of these tools that I weave together for myself to understand this life I am living and to be of service to you, my yoga students.  You can find links to these teachers and schools in my connections section on the home page.

My goal as a teacher is to support you in finding your own yoga, and assist you in stepping more fully into your own life in the ways you feel called to do so.  I hope to support you in living a more balanced life through yoga including diet, movement, meditation, self-study and devotion to the Sacred.  My classes and retreats may include individual intention setting, yin and slow vinyasa style asana and  pranayama and meditation practice. I have enormous faith in the body's wisdom, and hope to empower you to know this and trust this for yourself.
